In honor of this Valentine’s Day, all of us at Prescott Pailet Benefits would like to share how to keep your heart healthy this year. It is after all American Heart Month as well!
 
Healthy eating is the best way to begin ensuring your keep your heart healthy. Start with limiting the amount of cholesterol and fat that you consume as well as eating more whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
 
Next up is exercise. Taking the time to be active for 30 to 60 minutes day can actually strengthen your heart as well as reduce your cholesterol and blood pressure. Even it’s a leisurely stroll outside or gardening, get up and get active!
 
Another way to keep your heart healthy and strong is by not smoking. Smoking raises your heart rate and blood pressure. It can also cause blood clots so quit now and you can still avoid many of the risks.
 
Protecting your heart and keeping it healthy doesn’t have to a hassle. Better eating and exercise will get you on the right track! Heart disease is preventable so it’s important to follow a healthy lifestyle and control your cardiovascular risk factors.
